What is hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy is a safe, powerful and effective method of treatment for many problems, has no harmful side effects and is suitable for just about everybody, child, adolescent, or adult. Hypnotherapy is drug free, and there is no physical manipulation involved.

Hypnosis is a natural brain wave pattern that we enter into many times a day, for example when we are daydreaming, just before we go to sleep and even when we are watching television and can be described as nothing more than a concentrated state of focus, or trance.

“Research shows that there is more scientific evidence for Hypnotherapy than any other Complementary Therapy… by using hypnosis, people can perform prodigious feats of will-power and self-healing”.

It is a very pleasant and relaxing state where, contrary to popular belief, ones awareness is heightened, not lost. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, one does not lose awareness or control during a hypnotherapy session.

It is in this trance like state that the conscious part of our mind is bypassed and we have more access to the subconscious. We know that this is when we are most susceptible to suggestion.

Hypnotherapy uses this trance like state to bypass the conscious mind and access the sub-conscious directly. This allows us to re-programme the subconscious mind, change unwanted patterns of behaviour or harmful habits such as Smoking or Phobias or reducing an individuals level of anxiety.

Absolutely no-one can be hypnotised against their will, and even when in trance, one can reject any of the suggestions given, if they are not appropriate.

The Hypnotherapist acts as the facilitator for change and it is the will and determination of the client that allows that change to happen.
